finally updating

So, i've decided to finally update!!! woohoo... :S

anyways, so what's happened since... whenever i last updated?? let's see... well, to start off with, hospitals are full of craaaazy people!! (this is my biggest piece of news... so it gets an entire paragraph, as opposed to a point) i was asked to be translator for this one woman, whom i was told was "difficult", and that i didn't have to do it if i didn't want to. but i thought "hey, why not? it's an opportunity to practice mandarin", so i went. When i got there, the doctor was seeing someone else, and so we had to wait in the hallway for him to be done. ... that's when it started. first of all, the crazy woman knew english!! she could speak english perfectly well (accented, but she oculd communicate perfectly fine), so why the hell did she need a translator? who knows. anyways... basically, long story short, first she trash-talked ALL of her previous translators, or at least all of the "free" ones she got (i'm in the same category, free), telling me that they didn't know english, or that they didn't know chinese, and that they were pretty much useless. Meanwhile, i'm thinking "well, if they're so useless, why the fuck am i here?!?!?" But a bigger question is: how many "free translators", or Translators in general, are gonna have medical school training in both English AND Chiense - to know both of the technical terms?!?!? geez! we all pretty much grew up here, and none of us have received medical training - so that fact that i knew how to say migraine, and epilepsy, and uterus in chinese is fucking WICKED enough!!! so anyways, this woman was a doctor or smt in china, and has "colleagues in high places" or so she says. apparently, she got an mri before, in china, and all the doctors went "wow, ur brain is WEIRD!", and she said the only way doctors deal with stuff they've never seen before is just to wait, and see what happens. so, she's always been under the perception that her brain is "special" and that no one can ever figure what's wrong with her brain, and therefore no one can ever diagnose her. SO, she comes to canada, and gets another TWO MRIs (TWO! while other SICK ppl are put on waiting lists!! bitch). anyways, so ya, her brain IS slightly weird, but the doctor dianosed her with migraines, and gave her drugs for migraines. it took him about 2 minutes to diagnose her, which she didn't like cuz she waited 3 months for the appt. ANYWAYS, the doctor was right in the end (and all thru out), and knowing she was difficult, made all these jokes! which i totally couldn't translate!!!!! ... and the doctor eventually gave her a scientific paper which he wrote to hopefully finally convince her that she did have migraines (she was very adament in chinese in yelling "I do NOT have migraines! migraines are such a small problem, i have a MUCH bigger problem! my brain is a huge puzzle! no one knows why my brain is like this! i do NOT have migraines!") and to leave his office!! ... ya, basically, this woman was "difficult", and i didn't like her at all. Good news is tho, apparently, she liked me! hahhaha! i know this only cuz they told me that she didn't call to complain! (she usually calls to complain... in english!)

what else happened? lotsa stuff... i'm just gonna point-list things... whatever.
- made TOPS group... haven't cehcked it in a while... cuz only adam, mark, daniel joined so far, so i'm sad .... *sniff* ....
- i fucked up my NSERC application (they never told me it was supposed to be typed, not hand-written!! geeeeez!!! and no, it wasn't obvious! actually, the nserc website says that it can be hand-written). so SGS emailed me and made me change it completely within two days. so, i did. but in doing so, i noticed that YAY, the pile of the applications that actually made it to SGS isn't very high! so i've been shortlisted on a pretty short list. that's a good thing. 'cept i'm sure all these other ppl have millions of publications and have gotten nserc before, etc... oh well! whatever. i gotta start somewhere!
- Chachi - EWWWWW! i can't believe he did that!!! i would've tried to surgically remove that part of my neck, and then use skin-grafts to regrow it back!!! that's just NASTY!!! .... UGH! u should've punched him!! .... he reminds me of Kamran, and we all know how nasty that thing is!
- Kat - why not start a blogspot blog??? friendster?!?!? C'MON!!! :P j/k. i just like blogspot. and it's from google (that's what daniel says at least), so i like it. :P ... billy doesn't like google for some reason... i wonder why.... i love google!!
- daniel - i saw eddie again! and i finally got his email. SO, when are we gonna all go out to lunch????
- ester's coming back ... today! (i think) YAY!!! just in time for... well, nothing really. see u soon!!

- the pretty girl from the RI called me yesterday to inform me that i am supposed to fill out this one form for the Restracomp stipend/award/whatever it is. .... and that the form was due the day before! hahahaa! ... yikes. i never got it. anyways, she ended up emailng it to me, and i filled it out. apparently, i've been 'recommended' for restracomp, but they won't give it to me unless i can prove that i don't have the financial means to suport myself - i.e. i need this money. which i kinda do. :P heheheeee.... actually, why the hell does it matter?!?!? Dr.snead gets the money anyways! it's not like my stipend will increase even if i get ALL of the awards!! maybe i'll get an extra 2 grand, but that's it. .... me getting good undergrad marks is only good to dr.snead right now, not me. (i don't mind ... cuz the more money i get thru these things, the more trips he'll let me go on! i hope...)
- andrew's mom was in the hospital for an appendectomy. it bursts before she went into the OR. MAN! doctors here are FUCKED up!!! (no offence indra) cuz honestly, you let them wait for >24hrs before u do a SIMPLE appendectomy?!?!? seriously, these doctors depend on the antibiotics, as opposed to their own skills, to cure a patient! can we say "drug resistant bacteria"???? when will these ppl learn?!?!?! geez! and the doctor's name, btw, was justin lee! heheheee.... that's like, THREE Justin Lee's!!!! one in crappy cantonese chinese school, one in tops grade 9 and 10, and nwo this doctor. ... if i marry a guy whose last name is Lee, there's no way my kid's first anme will be Justin.
- Jason got his G1! yay! finally!! .... seriously, did ANY of you have to fill out a G1 test by pen/paper?!?!? cuz i know i did a computerized test, and that was 1998! jason did the pen/paper test.
