wedding invitations

I decided to use the blog to keep track of my DIY wedding invitation ... STUFF...

After muchos pondering and calculating, I finally decided to make the invitation pockets myself (with my parents...).  i know it'll take a LOOOONG time (hundreds of hrs, so i've been told), but i think i'll enjoy doing it.
(If i don't know u and u're reading this, www.cardsandpockets.com is an awesome place to buy the stuff - they're really cheap and their service is amazing.  I decided not to go with them ONLY because i love origami and it'll work out to be ~$1/invite cheaper)

So anywho...
AL ordered tons of paper for me from www.paperworks.com ... it's a lot cheaper to ship to the US (cf. canada) and i don't have to pay customs/taxes.
So i ended up getting...
- 2 packages of 100 of the legal-sized Stardream Jupiter cover-stock (8.5x14, 105lb) - each sheet will make one pocket invite
- 1 package of the same thing but Stardream Sapphire one (for the 'thank you' cards)
- 2 packages of 80lb cover stock (to print on; Neenah classic crest: baronial ivory)
- 2 boxes of 250 envelopes that match the ivory insert part
Grand total incl. S/H: $285 ... which works out to be ~$1.40 per invite, include all of the inserts, and also includes the price of the Thank you cards.

the only major expensive left for the invitations now will be the printing... still trying to decide between thermography and normal printing.  BH will help me print stuff at his work (*fingers crossed!!*) but it'll take several mths since it's kinda not proper to be hijacking the work printer for my own personal stuff.  but whatever.  :P  i pay taxes, or will pay taxes, so it's all good.  anyway, he can't help with the thermography printing tho.  baaaah.  and people have really really crappy work hours, i.e. nothing's open after 5!!  baaaaah....

I also bought the Staples 5-in-1 Paper Trimmer, and 2 Staples permanent glue tape thingys (and one glue-tape thing from the Dollarstore... dollarstore one is 8m, Staples one is 10, but staples one is 4 times the price!  i'll be trying both).  I also don't know how long the 'paper trimmer' one will hold out for... hopefully all 200 invites!!!!
